If this patient only has 6 months left to live, keep it simple and comfortable. No heroic measures. Diet can be low salt for fluid retention. Other than that, give the patient whatever she wants as long as it doesn't make her sick. Maybe check her with endoscopy and band varices to lower risk of bleeding. Do paracentesis if fluid retention becomes uncontrolled and uncomfortable. Xifaxan and Lactulose for encephalopathy problems. Diuretics for fluid retention and edema. Recommend hospice if needed.
